Human Capital Intelligence News! (and a quick tutorial)

The entire People Report team is very excited about the second release of our brand new Human Capital Intelligence dashboards, which were made available for download through the e-File Cabinet this past weekend.  This latest release includes data through September of 2010, essentially covering the first 3 quarters of the year.  Speed of reporting and timeliness of the data are some of our most important objectives, so we are also very happy to say that starting in January we will begin monthly reporting of these dashboards, beginning with the "Year End" version which will include information for all months of 2010 just a month after the end of the year.

Some important enhancements have been made to these dashboards since we first published them in October, including the ability to display value labels for all benchmarks, adding 2009 quarterly data for all main metrics, and enabling functionality to zoom in on the data available on the Transaction Intelligence dashboard.

And now on to the quick tutorial.  After talking with some of our member companies we discovered there might be some confusion regarding what the actual numbers mean on the graphs included in your dashboards.  Even though our focus has been changed towards using the quartiles (25th, 50th or median, and 75th percentiles) as a more robust and accurate benchmark set, the numbers shown through the blue bars in your graphs (see Figure) are actually your company numbers for that particular metric (and not a percentile rank).  In this example, the actual turnover rate for this sample company was 5.58% during September (there has been some confusion as to whether this meant that the turnover rate for this company put them at the 5.58th percentile, which is not the case).  The blue bars are hard metrics that measure your company's performance for each of the metrics, while the lines show where the benchmarks for each of the percentile ranks lie.  In this example, at 5.58% turnover rate during September, this company is performing better than most companies in their segment (their turnover is lower than the 50th percentile), but they are not within the group of the 25% top performing companies when it comes to turnover (which is represented by the red 25th percentile line.)

As always, we ask that you please keep in mind that your analysts here at People Report are available to answer your questions regarding the data, the functionality in the dashboards, and explain any metric represented through them.  We know there is a lot to explore in these dashboards and we are here to help.  Happy exploring!
