This nutty economy and
political environment can make you want to just stay in bed under
the covers wtih a stash of trashy novellas and cheetos - but
getting up and making a difference in the world is really a much
better path to personal and business happiness. So that means
speed reading the headlines, and heading instead to a balance of
information, inspiration, and yes, POSITIVE outlooks about the
world. Here are 10 of my favorites.
1. Seth Godin's
blog: http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/
In my humble estimation the best biz, marketing + sometimes life
blog. Ten years, every day, the ever ready bunny of thought
leadership.
2. Zen
Habits: http://zenhabits.net/ Leo Zabuto,
Author of The Power of Less Some insight into how to get
it all done, without losing health + sanity. I find I need
frequent reminders.
3. Tom Peters
Quote of the Day: http://www.tompeters.com/your_world/join_the_fray/
his blog is great too. Tom has been telling it like it is for
years, and has been reborn as an evangelist of innovation,
reinvention - with a remarkable BS radar.
4. SmartBrief
for Entrepreneurs: entrepreneurs@smartbrief.com
(Definitely my favorite of all the SmartBrief daily
newsletters)
5. SmartBrief
on Leadership: leadership@smartbrief.com
6. Penelope
Trunk (aka Brazen Careerist): http://blog.penelopetrunk.com
400,000 page views a month - and the most frequented Gen Y career
site on the web - she is oversexed, opinionated, hilarious,
thought provoking and uncannily correct about what is going on in
corporate America.
7. How to
Change the World: http://blog.guykawasaki.com/
Guy Kawasaki's Blog - another one of my biz favorites - I evidently
share that opinion with hundreds of thousands of people.
8.
Freakonomics: http://freakonomics.blogs.nytimes.com/
Steven Dubner + Friends - stat geek that I am, I love these
guys. Funny, insightful, business + life pulse. (Recent addition -
so far it's been great)
9. Tim Ferriss'
blog: http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog
Author of the 4-Hour Workweek - he pushes the edges, but I love the
challenges to status quo - again in business + life. Especially
since I have realized over time that he really works a whole lot
more than four hours a week.
10. Punk Rock
HR: http://punkrockhr.com/ Laurie
Ruettiman's blog - great mixture of hilarity, sound advice, and
perspective about the rapidly evolving work place. Plus she has
five cats.
Enjoy - and send me
yours. joni@peoplereport.com
